Scholarship and/or Tuition waiver cover school fees?

Why can't my child's $10,000/year scholarship cover the Barrett and school fees after the tuition reduction? My child loses out on a large chunk of his scholarship after tuition reduction that could be used to help me and my family by covering the Barrett and school fees.

Comment or issue submitted:

Does Short-Term Disability (STD) Insurance affect my 6 weeks paid leave for having a baby? I carry  short-term disability (STD) insurance, and am concerned my pay and benefits provided by ASU will be reduced during my 6 weeks of leave if there is an STD claim.

Human Resources is aware of this issue and is working resolve it by the end of the 2019 calendar year. More to come...

Parental Leave Benefits

Submitted: August 31, 2018

Comment or issue submitted:

I am concerned about SPP 708: Parental Leave Benefits offered when both parents work at ASU. If both parents work in different departments, and there is no conflict of interest, why do they need to split the leave time? It does not seem right to force staff to use vacation time if they both want to be off the entire 6 weeks together.

Resolution:

Update to Policy SPP 708 effective July 1, 2019:

Increase paid parental leave benefit from six to 12 weeks
ASU intends to lead the way on this important benefit by increasing paid parental leave from six to 12 weeks. Parents – including birth mothers, fathers, and adoptive parents –who have met certain eligibility requirements may use this benefit. We also are pleased to announce an increase of paid parental leave if both parents work at ASU from 12 to 18 weeks – to be used at the parents’ discretion – as long as neither parent takes more than 12 weeks.
